YORK, Pa. (AP) — Macy's says it plans to close its department store in York.
The company said Friday that its store at York's West Manchester Mall will close in late September or early October. The store employs 69 people.
A news release said the company is closing underperforming locations and opening new stores "to fill gaps in local markets across the country."
The 120,000-square-foot store opened as a Hecht's in 1995 and was converted to a Macy's in 2006.
After the closure, Macy's will have 36 stores in Pennsylvania.
