PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Authorities say smoke in the basement prompted a precautionary evacuation of a hotel in the center of Philadelphia, but no injuries were reported.
Fire department units were sent to the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel in Center City shortly after 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Guests who were told to leave their rooms stood outside the building while firefighters investigated the light haze of smoke coming from the basement.
KYW-TV reported that the fire department officials said the cause of the smoke was a blown circuit breaker. Crews set up fans to ventilate the basement and first floor.
