PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Powerful thunderstorms moving across Pennsylvania have left about 70,000 utility customers without power.
PECO is reporting most of the outages. About 64,000 PECO customers are in the dark in the Philadelphia area, with most of those outages in Chester County.
PPL Electric Utilities says more than 4,800 of its customers have lost power, widely scattered throughout central and eastern Pennsylvania. First Energy is reporting more than 2,000 customers without electricity.
At its peak, nearly 171,000 utility customers had no power.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for small streams and is urging motorists to be on the lookout for flooded roads.
The bad weather forced postponement of several fireworks displays Thursday night.
